Phytoestrogens

On September 23, 2022, the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) issued a final and official opinion on genistein and daisdein.

From a safety assessment based on relevant data for the aglycone of genistein and daisdein, and consideration of the potential endocrine disruptor effects of these phytoestrogens, the committee concluded:

The use of genistein in cosmetic products can be considered safe up to a maximum concentration of 0.007%.

The use of daisdein in cosmetic products can be considered safe up to a concentration of 0.02%.

Genistein and daisdein are phytoestrogen substances present in many legumes such as soybeans, red clover, and the popular Chinese plant Babchi (Psoralea corylifolia). They belong to isoflavones, plant ingredients used in numerous cosmetic products to improve collagen synthesis, reduce the impact of free radicals, stimulators of hyaluronic acid secretion, antioxidants and anti-inflammatories.

That is why it is very important to know the exact composition of our herbal extracts.
